"Three months ago, Val and I went on a Beatles weekend to the marvelous city of Liverpool. If it wasn't for the lovely friendly people and the great places of interest in that city, last night at Garth Cawood's spectacular Beatles night, held at Idle and Thackley Conservative club, would have made it insignificant. The venue, formerly The Top 20 night club where Tom Jones and many other famous artists appeared, was packed to capacity. Many in the crowd are or were themselves in the music business. It was especially good for me to speak to lots of friends who I usually only converse with over Facebook... Last night we weren't disappointed, the band, without exception was the best tribute band I have ever heard. I could not fault them, the musicianship, vocals, and harmonies were as polished as any I have ever listened to. For years, as a music lover with absolutely no ability to play anything, I have always been amazed and in awe of people who can play and sing at the same time. However, last night this awe was taken to a new level with the band's drummer. His drumming had impressed me right from the start, but when it was pointed out by Kath that he was also the voice of John Lennon, I was euphoric. In a way, it was better than being at a live Beatles concert in the 60's where the hits would have been more sparse, last night "Beatles For Sale" crammed around 8 years of spectacular hits into 2 hours. The second spot was packed full of greats of the sixties, and now the large dance floor was packed. Even our young Polish friend Karol was driven to get up and dance. This was a first for him, but I bet it wont be his last... A night at one of these concerts is like having a happiness injection...we are still buzzing." - Keith Foxton
